He made the comments among senior military leaders and their spouses in the White House State Dining Room ahead of a dinner expected to include the discussion of a range of national security issues.

"Maybe it's the calm before the storm", Trump replied to inquiries from the press, according to pool reports.

"We have the world's great military people", Trump replied. Again, reporters asked him what he meant, and if the storm had anything to do with Iran or ISIS, and again, Trump did not answer.

The president then bid everyone a good night, without clarifying his comments.

The impromptu photo-op happened Thursday evening following Trump's meeting with USA military officials. Could be. The calm before the storm.

President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

"Frankly, that deal is an embarrassment to the United States, and I don't think you've heard the last of it - believe me", he said during his speech. Reporters instantly starting shouting questions, primarily, "What storm?".

Prior to Trump's foreboding tease, he told military leaders that his goal was to eliminate North Korea's nuclear weapons.

"We can not allow this dictatorship to threaten our nation or allies with unimaginable loss of life", he said, vowing to "do what we must do to prevent that from happening and it will be done, if necessary".

The president is now deciding whether to decertify the Iran nuclear deal brokered by the Obama administration. Trump said while standing for a photo with military leaders.
