The iPhone 8 Plus with its dual camera setup also scores 94, thus making Note 8's rivalry with the iPhone 8 Plus more spicy for their respective fans.
Compared to the iPhone 8 Plus, the Note 8 loses out on colour vibrancy and dynamic ranges but shines in preserving details and instant zoom.
A key feature of the of the premium Smartphone, which will be retailing at Sh104,999, is the dual lens camera, which puts it in direct competition with Apple's iPhone 7 plus that has a similar rear camera feature. The Galaxy Note 8 camera is capable of 2x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom.
The Galaxy Note 8 is now available in the market.
Those lower costs probably allowed Apple to add features such as wireless charging, glass backs, and improved cameras to the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus without significantly increasing its own costs or the prices it asks for them.
A year ago the Pixel's camera was declared as the best, with stellar performance in low light photography, video, and regular point-and-shoot modes. The live focus bokeh effect does well in both bright light and low light conditions. It scored a "mere" 84/100 in video shooting, lagging behind the iPhone 8 Plus's 89/100. DxOMark praised the Note 8's fast autofocus, good stabilization, excellent while balancing and color rendering.
To establish its score, DxOMark also tested the Galaxy Note 8 to the test: more than 1,500 shots were taken by the engineers of Boulogne-Billancourt, and over two hours of video were shot, in the lab, in indoor and outdoor. For videos, they reported that there's no autofocus tracking in default mode and there's residual motion visible even while holding the camera still during a video recording. If you love iOS, you would go for the new iPhones. However, after a month with the Note 8, I still use it several times a day and I've come to rely on it for many things. There are new versions of both of these devices and both are nice improvements over last year's models.
The iPhone X is yet to be tested.
