Andrew Luck suffers setback

Indianapolis Colts Andrew Luck has experienced soreness in his surgically-repaired right (throwing) shoulder and will not practice this week, general manager Chris Ballard said.

The Colts ramped up Luck’s workload prior to their Week 6 loss and he was seen making 30- and 40-yard throws.

This qualifies as a significant setback, no matter how the Colts try and spin it. Luck practiced the past two weeks and appeared to be knocking on the door of playing sometime soon.

“He’ll continue to rehab”. Every surgery is different. That’s why we never put a timeline on this. “His long-term success is at what we’re looking for”.

Andrew Luck had finished up his second week of practice heading into last week’s game against the Titans as he progressed toward getting back on the field some time in the second half of this season. But with Wednesday’s news, it is anyone’s guess as to when Luck will be able to play again.

“It’s natural it’s going to be some pain and soreness when you’re rehabbing an injury”, Ballard said. It’s just one thing that just hasn’t gone away.

With the uncertainty at quarterback, the Colts acquired Jacoby Brissett from the New England Patriots during training camp.

“I don’t think it will be long”, Ballard said of Luck’s absence from practice. Scott Tolzien started the season opener.
