Zamihan also came under fire for having allegedly criticised the Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar for prohibiting the Muslims-only laundrette from operating in the state.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 ― Muslim preacher Zamihan Mat Zin who is under investigation for sedition will be released from police detention today, his lawyer Fakhrul Azman Abu Hasan told Malay Mail Online.

The Johor ruler pointed out that Zamihan was critical of his actions as well as the the muftis following their views on the matter.

“If it is true that he is a Jakim officer, then I don’t know where the department found him because for me, he is like an empty can and brainless”.

“It seems this ustaz is clever when it comes to lying, how could we learn from him?” If he is indeed found to have committed an offence, we can not allow (him to continue giving lecture).

“If he is truly a Jakim preacher, I have no idea where they picked him from and after this I will direct JAIJ not to waste their time with Jakim”, His Majesty added.

Zamihan was arrested on Wednesday at the Dang Wangi police headquarters.

In an immediate response, Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said the ministry would probe the matter and take immediate action over the speech.

Sultan Ibrahim previously said in a published interview that Johor was not a “Taliban” state and that the laundry owner should “migrate to Afghanistan” if the latter was unhappy with a directive to end the allegedly discriminatory policy of serving Muslim customers only.

In a video clip that had gone viral, Zamihan made disparaging remarks against the Chinese by calling them “unhygienic” and accused them of “not washing up after defecating and urinating”.

The Pertubuhan Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah Malaysia (Aswaja) president was remanded for two days until today, Wan Ahmad confirmed when contacted.
