Police did not confirm if the bullets hit anyone or anything, however, they said two suspects were taken to hospital with unspecified injuries.
RCMP received numerous complaints of erratic driving and threatening behaviour involving the same vehicle on October 13th. The driver, who was one of three people in the vehicle, rammed a civilian vehicle.
It was determined the vehicle driving erratically was stolen.
Sylvan Lake is about 150 kilometres north of Calgary. During this attempt the members deployed a spike belt successfully and the suspects vehicle turned around and the member/members discharged his firearm. The two males then proceeded to an adjacent farm house and broke into the unoccupied residence, stealing keys and a pickup truck. Officers then fired their weapons at the suspects.
Police blocked the truck and the suspects rammed a police vehicle.
The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team, or ASIRT, says it is investigating an officer-involved shooting near Sylvan Lake.
No charges have been laid at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
The incident occurred around 4:30 Friday afternoon in the area of Township Road 394 (Aspelund Road) and Highway 20.
