From VHS through to DVDs, online payments and even potentially widespread use of the internet itself, porn has spurred growth in many sectors and now one of its biggest sites is using artificial intelligence, meaning that either AI is about to become very mainstream, or has alternatively jumped the shark. If the model finds a match to one of the 10,000 porn stars in its database, it’ll tag the video with the talent’s name.

With an eye towards privacy, Pornhub’s vice president of operations Corey Price assured The Post that amateur pornographers and victims of revenge porn need not worry that they will be outed by the program. The way PornHub is doing this is by feeding the AI system several thousands of videos along with official photos of the performer to help the AI “learn”.

The new model will “play a pivotal role moving forward”, he added, since more than 10,000 videos are uploaded to the site every day.

Currently, PornHub’s AI system has already processed around 500,000 videos and expects to complete a full scan of its entire library by 2018.

Over the next year, Pornhub hopes to scan all 5 million videos now on its platform. Or, if it detects a blonde in the video, it will add it to the “blonde” category. Right now, the company is using the tool to tag its performers and certain physical features that they have (such as hair color).

“Artificial intelligence has quickly reached a fever pitch, with many companies incorporating its capabilities to considerably expedite antiquated processes”.
