Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after two people were killed in a serious collision on Highway 6 in Flamborough.

The SIU investigates cases in which somebody is killed or seriously injured during an interaction with police.

Kerry Schmidt said the crash occurred at about 10 a.m. and the victims are a man and a woman.

Ontario Provincial Police say they don’t know when the road will reopen.

Mark Douglas from 570 NEWS is on scene and says a Waterloo Regional Police vehicle may have been involved in a pursuit.

It was not immediately clear what involvement Waterloo Regional Police had in the incident. “2 people are dead”, the SIU said on Twitter.

“It’s very severe and tragic”, said Hamilton fire spokesperson Claudio Mostacci.

Firefighters on scene put out a fire that erupted in the transport truck.

A Google maps screenshot shows where the collision occurred and that the road is now closed.
