Tropical storm conditions are expected to begin late tonight or early Wednesday. Through this blog post, I'll answer some Twitter questions which may be of interest to everyone. By 2 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, it's forecast to be just north of the southern islands of The Bahamas.
The combination of wind shear, progressively lower ocean-heat content as Jose departs the Gulf Stream and drier air should weaken it to a tropical storm, then a non-tropical low-pressure system later this week. It's possible Granite Staters might see some gusts to 25-35 miles per hour, mainly at the Seacoast, but that should not be enough to result in any trouble.

Scattered power outages and tree damage are likely over the Cape and Islands. Rain and wind will be strong on Tuesday and will lessen overnight into Wednesday morning according to forecasters. Check the batteries in flashlights.
Storm could make landfall along the northeast coast of the U.S. However, we still don't know the exact track of it and so a few unknowns remain. Southeastern Massachusetts could see more than 3 to 4 inches of rain and some minor flooding.
Wednesday: Showers or a steady rain especially early, breezy to windy on Cape Cod.

The area will experience a rain band Monday evening with potential of heavier rain Tuesday morning.

. Interests in these areas should monitor the progress of this system and beyond as the track takes it toward the Eastern U.S. This storm will have to be watched closely! Along the coast, there may be minor flooding at high tide as well as beach erosion.Danny, Bristol Harbor should be protected from any significant storm surge Tuesday night, but higher than normal water levels (a foot or less) is certainly possible.
Although the center of Jose is now forecast to pass about 50-100 miles away from the east end of Long Island, tropical-storm-force winds are expected to extend well west of the center and will reach the island, the National Hurricane Center says.
