While addressing the 36th edition of monthly radio programme, "Mann Ki Baat, ' Prime Minister Modi expressed his happiness over the widespread support for 'Swachhata Hi Seva" movement and thanked media for furthering the message of cleanliness. Since Mahatma Gandhi always believed in cleanliness through community's participation, Modi has assured big names from the film industry and sports, cricket in general, come forward to contribute in the movement.
After coming to power, Narendra Modi started Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission).
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday requested cricket fans to join the "Swachhata Hi Seva" movement during the third ODI match between India and Australia in Indore.
An elated Pattnaik posted the letter he received from PM Modi on his twitter handle.

Pattnaik has recently built two toilets for fishermen at Penthakata in Puri beach from his award money to persuade them to stop open defecation.
"Swachhata Hi Seva" is initiated by the Narendra Modi's government and the Prime Minister has personally written letters to the NGOs, corporates, schools, colleges, social, cultural and political leaders, government officials and various others to step up Swachhta activities during the September 15 - October 2 period to coincide with the birthday celebration of Mahatma Gandhi. The mission is bifurcated into sub-missions as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Gramin), under Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Urban), under Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
