Tom Johnson Camping Center of Marion is also accepting donations on behalf of the American Red Cross, and will match each dollar donated up to $2 million through Labor Day. The retailer set up a pharmacy inside the Dallas Convention Center and sent some of its trucks to deliver supplies to a Houston Conference Center. Some encouraged others to donate their money elsewhere. According to the outlet, Red Cross not only mismanaged on-the-ground efforts immediately after Sandy and Hurricane Isaac, but they diverted assets "for public relations purposes".

But the Red Cross said that's no reason to worry. The Red Cross knows how much people in Texas can us donations and help from volunteers.

The list of its relief efforts is long. "Thus admitting to challenges is acknowledging reality (not failure)".

Tens of thousands of people are escaping the devastation in hundreds of Red Cross and community shelters, many having lost everything except what they could carry as they fled their flooded neighborhoods.

More than 125 Red Cross emergency response vehicles are activated and three of those are from SC. By Wednesday he had raised $6 million and was seeking $10 million.

"We are rebuilding, and with these funds we will be able to help Houstonians return to normality."
Especially during times of disaster, people see what's happening in Texas and our hearts all go out to them. There are also about 116,000 ready-to-eat meals now on the ground with an additional 39,000 en route.

So far, more than 35,000 people have sought refuge at Red Cross and partner shelters following "catastrophic" flooding in Texas.

" The best way to help those affected by this storm is a financial gift to the Red Cross or become a trained Red Cross volunteer".

How you can donate: Items can be dropped off through Monday at Meathead Movers Mini Storage, 4744 N. El Capitan Ave., Fresno.

Harvey made landfall in southeast Texas late Friday as a Category 4 hurricane. That said, if you're interested in donating to local nonprofits who are helping out during the ongoing flooding, Houstonia has put together a comprehensive list of local charities to choose from.
