The New Jersey National Guard joins thousands of other military members already in place.

The soldiers will leave before 9:00 a.m.at the Kentucky Air National Guard Base.

Members consist of nurses, physician assistants, medical administrators, a combat medic and a doctor.

The New Hampshire National Guard is deploying seven Airmen from the 157th Civil Engineering Squadron and one from the 260th Air Traffic Control Squadron along with a Disaster Relief Bed Down Set (DRBS) to the Virgin Islands in support of the Hurricane Irma relief effort.

Recovery efforts in the Virgin Islands have been ongoing since Hurricane Irma made landfall September 6, sustaining winds of 150 mph for over four hours.

Governor Phil Scott (R – Vt.) was also in attendance wishing them good luck on their mission.

“Just as in Superstorm Sandy, the training and equipment we receive in order to fight our nation’s wars is what makes it possible for us to rapidly respond during homeland emergencies”, said Brig. “It’s part of our DNA I think as Vermonter to want to give back”.
