As the wind blew from southeast to northwest on Saturday, the water would be blown away from the shoreline on the northwest side of Long Island.
Videos posted to social media appear to show no water in the ocean on Long Island in the Bahamas.

This is being marked as one of the most extraordinary weather phenomena’s in history.
Footage from the Irma-hit Bahamas freaked out social media users on Saturday as it emerged that seawater was missing from a bay as far as the eye could see.

For a few hours or days, a storm can even change the shape of an ocean.
While some are saying that this is a sign that a tsunami is going to happen, there is actually another explanation for the lack of ocean. Some fluctuations in intensity are likely to continue during the next day or two, and Irma is expected to remain a powerful category 4 hurricane as it approaches Florida.
