Internet users in Pakistan will face slow internet browsing due to 'outage in global submarine cable systems providing internet bandwidth to Pakistan, IMEWE, PTCL said in a statement.
PTCL GM Imran Janjua claimed that internet services have been restored by using alternative routes.
A fault has occurred in IMEWE due to which users will experience slow internet browsing whereas another global cable system SEA-ME-WE 4 is already under fix by the worldwide consortium, said Sikandar Naqvi, an official of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL).
Internet services remain limited in different areas of the country following the breakdown in cable wire near Jeddah.
The loss of these three submarine cables leaves Pakistan relying on SEMEWE 3, SEAMEWE 5 and the AAE1 submarine cables, out of which SEAMEWE3 operates in a limited capacity, while the other two were installed only recently, ProPakistani said. Today many PTCL users are facing slow internet browsing and it is still unclear when this issue will be resolved.

According to another industry official, Pakistan is not the only country in the world facing slowdown in the internet speed, but the other countries which have moved to alternate cables from the faulty ones are also facing a similar situation.
