In June 1994, Simpson's 35-year-old ex-wife, Brown Simpson, and Goldman were found stabbed to death outside her Los Angeles home.

"He is like my best friend and like my rock", she said. And as a family, we recognize that he is not the ideal man but he's clearly a man and a father that has done his best to behave the way that speaks to his overall nature and character.

Simpson said he never pointed a gun at anyone nor made any threats during the crime that put him in prison, and he forcefully insisted that almost all the memorabilia he saw in two dealers' hotel room belonged to him.

"I thought I was glad to get my stuff back, but it just wasn't worth it", he told the board.

"I wonder if that's how it always is across the country", she said.

Fromong said he felt Simpson's original sentence was too harsh. "It's time to give him a second chance".

He said Simpson is a good man and made a mistake. "It was shocking", Kim Goldman said of Simpson's pending release from prison after being locked up for a 2007 botched robbery.

Simpson will return to Florida, where his home and pension can not be attached in that judgement.

All of this was thrown into disarray, however, when he was charged with double murder for the killings of Nicole Brown, his wife, and Ron Goldman, a friend of Brown.

Simpson was controversially acquitted of murdering Nicole, 35, and Mr Goldman, 25, in 1995 in the case dubbed the "Trial of the Century".

Connie Bisbee, chairwoman of the Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners, said it would take about 30 minutes to make a decision.

"I would prefer to see him back in jail".

Although Simpson repeatedly denied he was seeking media attention during his parole hearing, Kaelin suspects we haven't seen the last of him.

"I'm talking to no one here", Simpson says, while gesturing his hands in the air. I've done my time. "I've done it as well and as respectfully as I think anybody can".

In light of Simpson's possible release from prison, TheStreet compiled some of The Juice's career accolades.

The board said the only aggravating factor was his victims feared for their safety because of the use of guns in the crime.

The parole board noted Simpson has been a model prisoner, and he took it a step further.

"This will not be the final chapter of O.J. Simpson", Kaelin says.

The victim in the robbery case also appeared at Simpson's side.
