The video game industry is now in the eighth console generation, which began five years ago and accounts for systems such as the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Wii U, as well as several handheld consoles and microconsoles - a new field that consists of platforms such as the Ouya, Nvidia Shield, and Steam Machines.
For starters, the executive said that there will be no problem with the pre-orders of the system, as Microsoft is now working on the issue.
Not only this Microsft's Ultimate Game Sale, with the Steam Summer Sale and Sony's own midyear discounts, gamers are now being spoilt with choices. This week, however, Sony Interactive Entertainment President and CEO, Shawn Layden, confirmed in an interview with German site Golem that PlayStation 5 is a thing and will be the next step forward for the company; but, you may not want to hold your breath, since we are still a long way off from its release. Add this to a more stable image rate and large hard disk space. But [PS4 owners have] no real disadvantages. Each of our games will continue to run on the classic PS4 and slightly better on the Pro.
But if the Xbox One X sells in similarly tiny numbers to those of its predecessors, could Microsoft finally abandon its gaming efforts there?
The Xbox One X may be far more powerful than the PS4 Pro- but the PS4 Pro has the benefit of being cheaper, with more games supporting it, and the backing of the PS4's exclusives library.
