Reynolds said Gregg will be a full partner in her administration just as she was as lieutenant governor for the past six years for former Gov. Terry Branstad, who was recently confirmed as USA ambassador to China. "We've had a bit of a controversy here going back and forth and there's a victor on this and the victor is the constitution".
"It's not gonna change the way I serve", he said. "Someone who shared by vision, someone who I trust, I was compatible with, was an outside thinker, and somebody that would work hard for the people of Iowa".
A native of Hawarden, Gregg graduated from Central College and attended Drake Law School. "I haven't even really processed this yet, quite frankly". "I think it's another one of those things that lets people know that everybody has a chance to come into any position and be successful", said Klipsch. "I'm not sure that's always been the case for the last six years".
Reynolds' roots in her home state are deep.
It remains to be seen how Reynolds will differentiate herself from Branstad, who signed a range of conservative-leaning legislation this year that shifted the state sharply to the right, thanks to a trifecta of Republican control in the Statehouse not seen in almost 20 years.
Reynolds and Grandon have known each other since the days when they were both county treasurers.
Staying in touch with her fellow Iowans has remained a top priority for Reynolds.
Branstad was both Iowa's longest-serving governor and also the longest-serving governor in any state in US history.
"The principles learned through academic success, like those learned from participation in education-based activities, help develop outstanding leaders and citizens", said IHSAA Executive Director Alan Beste.
(Des Moines) - Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds Wednesday morning announced her choice as lieutenant governor. The Reynolds administration and Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate disagree with Miller's opinion, but to avoid a potential lawsuit that would distract her nomination she decided Gregg would serve with the full title and duties, but won't be in the line of succession.
Acting Iowa Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg, left, and Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds enter a news conference together, Thursday at the Statehouse in Des Moines.
Reynolds made this decision to name Gregg to serve in an acting capacity because of Attorney General Miller's opinion that Reynolds, having been Lieutenant Governor, could not appoint a replacement. "And, I found those qualities in Adam Gregg".
Adam Gregg was appointed to acting lieutenant governor May 25, 2017.
