Twelve Apostles Hotel evacuated as fires spread near hotel

The 12 Apostles Hotel and Spa has been forced to evacuate owing to an encroaching wildfire that firefighters are struggling to get under control. Laubscher said there has not been any psychical damage to the property.

Table Mountain National Park fire manager Phillip Prins told News24 that they were concentrating on the fire that’s burning above the hotel. Guests from hotel being evacuated.

It said buses were assisting with the evacuation. Social media was abuzz, with tweeters posting about the fire.

He said as far as he knew, nobody had been injured. “The hotel will be closed until Monday”, he said.

On Thursday night, around 7:15pm, guests and staff at the hotel were asked to evacuate following a fire in the Oudekraal area.

Working on Fire also warned on Facebook that Victoria Road from Llandudno to Camps Bay had been closed to the public.

Cape Town – Three helicopters and 150 firefighters have been deployed to tackle the blazing fire near the 12 Apostles Hotel in Camps Bay on Friday.

Fire crews are still battling the blaze as high winds make their job all the more hard.
