Police say the body was located at Anglesea on Wednesday.
The remains were found just 10km from where missing mother Elisa Curry disappeared.
Police are awaiting pathology tests to confirm whether suspected human remains that washed up on a Victorian beach belong to a missing Melbourne mum.
“Police are now responding to reports of suspected human remains located on the coast near Anglesea”, a police spokesperson told SBS News.
Locals said the body is that of a woman, the Geelong Advertiser reported.
Three police cars were seen in the beach carpark after the reported discovery.
The search for Mrs Curry has been wound down in recent days after SES and police crews were unable to find any trace of her.
The body was found about 10km from where missing mother Elisa Curry went missing from Aireys Inlet 11 days ago.
Anglesea is about 10 kilometres north-west of Aireys Inlet.
