Toni Strickland is facing charges of making a terroristic threat and making a bomb threat, school police Capt. Ken Young said Thursday.
Strickland was arrested and taken into custody from her residence around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, Young said.
“This is not the time to neither joke nor make reference to such heinous acts at our schools or any other place”, Young said.
“At this point, there is no clear motive, other than bad judgment”, he said. “School officials coordinated with law enforcement to investigate and conclude that there was no credible threat”, the letter read.
According to El Mirage PD, the threats appear to have been made through the social media platform, Snapchat, at schools in Arizona and Nevada.
The rumors began when a student overheard another student talking about the recent mass shooting in Las Vegas and mistook the conversation as a threat, according to a letter sent to teachers and parents.
Detectives served search warrants at the boys’ Manhattan Beach homes, and while no weapons were found, investigators located what Zins called “substantial evidence … of a significant credible threat”. However, the investigation is ongoing and we are working with our local partners to expedite the investigation.
