The first single taken from U2's forthcoming "Songs of Experience" album has been unveiled.
Songs Of Experience is rumoured to be released in November or December of this year. "You're The Best Thing About Me #U2SongsofExperience #U2BestThing", the tweet on the group's account announcing the song reads. The band completed the new album past year but felt, in the wake of Donald Trump's election, it did not suit the changed political and social climate. "Why am I. Why am I walking away?"
The release follows last week's surprise gift of "The Blackout" performance video, another track from the upcoming album.
The band are now on tour in the U.S. and will wrap up their Joshua Tree 30th Anniversary shows next month. The track, which dropped on Wednesday morning (Sept. 6) is the first single from the band's long-promised Songs of Experience album, the follow-up to 2014's Songs of Innocence.
The earlier album delved into the band's influences and experiences from the late 1970s and early 1980s, while the second volume is intended as a collection of "intimate letters to places and people close to the singer's heart; family, friends, fans, himself".
The band is now wrapping its "Joshua Tree" 30th anniversary tour and are expected to tour behind the new album next year.
