Jose is a Category 4 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 155 miles per hour.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) said numerous instruments during Andrew broke.
Hurricane season officially runs from June 1 through November 30. The areas covered include the North Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea.
Both of the storms had wind speeds so high, measuring instruments had trouble reading the levels or could not withstand the conditions. Wind shear tends to tear a hurricane apart.
