Tropical Storm Katia formed early Wednesday off the coast of Mexico.

Jose is a Category 4 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 155 miles per hour.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) said numerous instruments during Andrew broke.

Hurricane season officially runs from June 1 through November 30. The areas covered include the North Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea.

Both of the storms had wind speeds so high, measuring instruments had trouble reading the levels or could not withstand the conditions. Wind shear tends to tear a hurricane apart.

The 1-5 scale estimates potential property damage.

With El NiƱo failing to take shape, there was a 62% chance of a major hurricane making landfall in the United States this season, Colorado State forecasters had said.

Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours and Jose could become a hurricane by Friday.

On Thursday, Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Gaston Browne urged residents of Barbuda, where an estimated 95 percent of structures and vehicles were destroyed by Irma, to evacuate to nearby Antigua as Jose approached.

A third named storm in the Atlantic is hovering near Mexico.

April 21, 2017 - Arlene moves southwest and south until it dissipates.

Katia is now about 160 miles from Tampico, Mexico.

The hurricane is now moving at a speed of 13 miles per hour. Weakens to an open wave the next day.

If the storm tracks over these beleaguered islands, they could face destructive winds for the second time in four days and up to eight inches of rainfall.

The last hurricane to make landfall in November was Otto a year ago.

A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for.

Tropical Depression 13 is trying to organize into a tropical storm off the coast of Mexico. The deadly hurricane has already wreaked havoc in the Caribbean in the past week.

Maximum sustained winds are near 150 miles per hour with higher gusts.

In the U.S., the damage would far surpass the US$78 billion estimate for the devastation from Hurricane Harvey in Texas, and fall just behind Katrina's US$118 billion cost.

The death toll from Harvey is not yet final, as officials manage the aftermath of the storm and continue recovery efforts.

The Bermuda High is a ridge of high pressure centered over the central Atlantic. Estimates put eventual total losses at as much as $75 billion. Irma was declared a hurricane earlier this week.

The eye of the storm will make landfall Sunday morning. By the weekend, Jose is predicted to slow down and turn northwest, though there is a chance it will hit the northern Lesser Antilles later this week, where Irma now rages.
