If you're a woman and fed up of falling victim to that gender pay gap in your local area, you may want to consider packing your bags and heading for Scotland: East Dunbartonshire has been voted the best place for women to live in the United Kingdom thanks to a recent BBC Radio 4 poll.
In better news, the study's shown that Scottish women are overall the happiest: topping the ranks to be crowned the best place in the United Kingdom to live for women was East Dunbartonshire in Scotland, which scored high in areas including education, equal pay and quality of the local environment.
The survey factored in gender-specific measures, including the gender pay gap, education and quality of life.
East Renfrewshire, also in Scotland, was judged to be the second best place to live for women. With the median house price in Islington being 16 times the median income, it's one of the least affordable places to buy a home in the country, impacting heavily on feelings of life satisfaction in women.
Islington was joined in the top 10 worst places to live by three other parts of London, Westminster, Camden, and the City of London.
Kingston upon Hull, ranked fifth worst place to live as a woman, was named the worst place for a woman to live under the age of 30 due to high levels of unemployment in the area.
NatCen said the analysis had provided a holistic analysis of women's quality of life in different areas of Britain, covering eight core and several age-specific domains.
Scotland, the Southeast of England, and the West Midlands entirely dominate the top 10 best places to live as a woman, which include West Oxfordshire, which placed third, and Shropshire, which placed 10th.
The average full-time salary for women in the area was £15.07 per hour, which scored 46th out of the 380 locations scored.
