Skipper Lascelles capped a fine display that included an excellent goal-line clearance by heading home Matt Ritchie's 76th-minute corner to secure back-to-back Premier League wins for Newcastle. However, after the game Francisco de Miguel Moreno ( AKA Paco) gave the post game interview, with the Spaniard clearly very happy with the three points: "I feel very happy, very". There was expectation going into the game but we were second best in combats, duels, first and second balls, tactics, all aspects. Hopefully he is joining us next week. "We have to reflect honestly on what happened, prepare well for Tottenham and then deliver - because we will have to play very well if we are to get anything there". After the game Rafa rang and he has congratulated everybody, especially the players.

It remains to be seen whether he is passed fit to return to training this week, but having constantly insisted that his coaching team are every bit as important to Newcastle's fortunes as he is, today's victory proved the value of a closely-knit backroom group.

It was Swansea's first piece of possession in the opposition penalty area, coming in the 39th minute, and reflected Newcastle's superiority in the creation of first-half chances.

It was ultimately the play of centre-back Jamaal Lascelles at both ends of the pitch that brought the three points. We don't need to change how we defend, just go about our defending in a better way. "We were very balanced between defence and attack and we are very pleased with the team".

"I'm finding it hard to understand why I saw what I saw".

The goal hero said: "They mark zonal and I prefer to go against that".

Swansea should have taken the lead soon after when Leroy Fer released Tammy Abraham and the striker rounded Rob Elliot for what looked a simple finish.

Paul Clement's ties to Bayern played a major role in the deal, and Giggs believes the Premier League is the ideal place for a midfielder of the Portuguese youngster's playing style.
