When Nintendo announced that it was following last year's NES Classic Mini with a Mini Super Nintendo for 2017, it was a cause for celebration.
The news coincides with Nintendo's announcement that it has dramatically increased SNES Classic Edition production to make sure that the supply of the company's second retro console will be enough to meet the expected demand.
But gamers still want the original, so the company is giving into the demand and the console will be back on the market in 2018.
In the same press release, the company added that shipments of the SNES Classic Edition, originally planned to cease by the end of the year, will instead continue into 2018.
The hugely popular miniature version of the classic Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) is due to return next summer.
"Fans have shown their unbridled enthusiasm for these Classic Edition systems, so Nintendo is working to put many more of them on store shelves", Nintendo said in a statement. For more information about Super NES Classic Edition, visit http://www.nintendo.com/super-nes-classic.
Nintendo has announced it will relaunch production of the popular NES Classic Edition console released a year ago. The console for release later this month features 21 games such as Super Mario World, The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past and Super Metroid.
