And the Australian has indicated Sunday's race in Singapore may be the best chance of the remaining seven grands prix to claim his second victory of the season.
After a disastrous start to the season with a non-finish in Melbourne, Ricciardo has rebuilt his confidence and is happy with Red Bull's progress.
But now Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner says that someone else is interested in supplying them with engines-a manufacturer they already have ties with who should be obvious, which clearly hints that it's Aston Martin. Finally, after hearing all the problems and complaints by Horner and the Red Bull Racing team altogether, Renault decided to make the first move and not renew the contract past the end of next season.
"I'm definitely committed to Red Bull next year and then I am out of contract", Ricciardo told Wide World of Sports.
"I'm sure there's reason behind it and, obviously, faith they're going to get better - and there's probably some proof in the pudding somewhere - but for sure they'll need to show up next year".
"I love competition, it is my dream job, but I kind of don't just want to be here to be here".
"I believe we can win another [race]", said Ricciardo.
"That's obviously what I'm trying to do with myself and Red Bull at the moment, but beyond that of course I want to be in the quickest auto every year".
But the tension has returned, even with Ricciardo's win in Azerbaijan, as it did not help things in the long run.
He now sits in fourth position on the championship standings on 144 points, but admits he has little hope of chasing down leaders Hamilton (238) and Vettel (235), with Bottas in third (197).
"Ideally we go out and win this weekend and it's all worth it, absolutely".
"Coming here, with a few updates as well, we should be there. We've fortunately got one this year", he said.
"It doesn't seem like these sort of circuits this year are a strength of Mercedes either so I think it could bring Ferrari and us really into that battle".
