Luck, who signed a six-year deal worth $140 million in June 2016, will not play in Week 2 and has yet to play for the Colts this season after having right shoulder surgery in January. He was placed on the physically unable to perform list in July and missed all of training camp. Tolzien's fourth career start did not go well as he threw 2 pick-6's with no touchdowns and only 128 yards passing in a blowout loss. "When I realize now how many people are taking what I said as though I was reporting 'Andrew Luck wants to be traded, ' I felt that it's very important that I clear that up".
The only other healthy quarterback on the active roster is Brissett, who joined the Colts on September 2.
Brissett stepped in late in the game, completing two passes for 51 yards.
Just two weeks ago, Jacoby Brissett was the third-string quarterback for the Patriots.
Rapoport also mentioned that the Colts may continue to start Scott Tolzien at quarterback. I could certainly see how Luck could be frustrated because of how the Colts are now looking as a team, but again, this is just speculation.
Brissett can't possibly have a totally firm grasp of the Colts' playbook with only 11 days to learn the offense, but we've seen enough of Tolzien to know he's not the answer.
