Modi, who sat through the deliberations of the executive, fed up with everyone talking about the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, asked party men to "look beyond elections" and make the party an "instrument of mass participation". For decades, various governments have focused on taking electricity to all parts of the country. This scheme would prove beneficial for the household, especially for women.
The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has launched a new scheme Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana -"Saubhagya" to ensure electrification of all willing households in the country in rural as well as urban areas here today.
He said the connections will be delivered at the doorsteps of the rural poor.
Under this scheme subsidy would be given on transformers, meters and wires so that electricity would be made available to the poor for free.
Families not covered under the data would also be provided electricity connections under the scheme on payment of Rs. 500 which shall be recovered by the service providers in 10 installments through an electricity bill.In 2015, PM Modi had announced that the government would electrify all 18,452 villages without power in 1,000 days.
The PM said BJP's fight against terrorism will continue.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister gave examples of the success of Jan Dhan Yojana, insurance schemes, Mudra Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, and Udan, to highlight how the Union Government is implementing schemes which benefit the poorest of the poor.
He said the aspirations of the poor determine the working of the National Democratic Alliance government.
For easy & accelerated implementation of the Scheme, modern technology shall be used for household survey by using Mobile App. Beneficiaries shall be identified and their application for electricity connection along with applicant photograph and identity proof shall be registered on spot. "And will complete this vow". "Now, we have less than 3,000 households left to be electrified", Modi said.
