No update yet on Pigrome's status.
Buechele connected with 10 different receivers in the game, but was sacked several times as the Longhorns struggled to run the ball despite return four starters on the offensive line.
But backed by a sound defensive effort that featured very few missed tackles and played up to Durkin's reputation as a strict disciplinarian, Pigrome also settled in.
The Texas Longhorns had to be better than they were under Charlie Strong, right?
For much of the next hour the sun-baked crowd shrieked after a string of freakish plays.
Not to be outdone, the Longhorns returned the favor to pick up their second TD of the day late in the second quarter.
But the Longhorns' Hill, a dynamic 6-foot-3 cornerback, struck again.
Their most egregious error was a blocked field goal of their own returned 71 yards for a touchdown by Maryland's Antoine Brooks early in the second quarter.
The third quarter might have been even wilder, featuring three touchdowns in three minutes.
Maryland picked up where it left off, with Johnson breaking a 50-yard run to the Texas 24 and two plays later, Pigrome finding Moore in the end zone for a 20-yard touchdown. If the Texas Longhorns put together another abysmal performance, Herman's run could be short-lived in Austin.
Tyrrell Pigrome passed for two touchdowns and ran for another before leaving with an injury and Maryland stunned No. 23 Texas 51-41 Saturday, spoiling new Longhorns coach Tom Herman's debut.
The Texas defense forced a three-and-out on the ensuing drive as well, but allowed Maryland to tie the score later in the first quarter after the Terrapins capitalized on good field possession following a Shane Buechele interception.
Greene converted a 26-yard field goal late in the half to push the Terrapins to a 30-14 advantage at halftime.
