The Canada global has been suspended indefinitely pending investigations into the matter by the league and the Orlando City Police Department.
Canadian global Will Johnson was arrested early Wednesday and charged with misdemeanour battery in connection with an alleged domestic incident.
According to a statement released by the MLS, Will Johnson has been suspended pending investigations by both the league and the Orlando Police Department.
The 30-year-old Johnson joined Orlando as a free agent this season after stints with Toronto, Portland, Real Salt Lake and Chicago. Her mother was present for the incident and the deputy said she corroborated the story.
Johnson's wife reportedly refused medical treatment at the scene and said she does not want to prosecute criminally.
Both the league and club made it clear they will not issue further comment on the matter until the conclusion of the investigation.
Johnson was arrested and booked into the Orange County jail at 2:37 a.m. Wednesday morning after getting into a physical altercation with his wife, Caroline Childs Johnson, on Tuesday night.
The Club will not provide further comment until the investigation into this alleged incident is complete.
In a verbal and sworn written statement, Childs Johnson said the couple of almost five years is going through a divorce.
Given the deliberate pace at which we've seen most domestic violence cases proceed, it wouldn't be a stretch to say that Johnson's season is over - Orlando's season only has seven games remaining, ending on October 22nd.
