Good news - the bad Switch online app for voice chat now passes the bare minimum requirements you could reasonably expect!
The biggest change is the fact that you can use voice chat while other apps are opened.
Players will now be able to continue use voice chat when their phones enter sleep mode, as well as while they use other apps. Do you even use voice chat in the Nintendo Switch Online app? In addition to voice chat improvements and bug fixes, the Google Play Store mentions that Bluetooth support for devices has also been improved. Lacking in features, underbaked in finish, Martin described the experience of using the Switch companion app as "almost aggressively limited".
Note: On devices using Android 6.0 or later, voice chat can not be used during sleep mode while power-saving features are activated. It's worth noting, however, that on Android devices on 6.0 (Marshmallow) or later, voice chat will not work in sleep mode if power-saving mode is active, though it should still work in the background of other apps regardless.
You can be sure that more updates for the Nintendo Switch will be released in the near future so stay tuned for all of the details.
