It was another day of stunning goal mouth action on Monday, September 11 at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium with six goals scored as the Eagles and Super Eagles soared after Mali beat Mauritania 3-1 and Nigeria beat Sierra Leone 2-0.
Enterprising Enugu Rangers midfielder Osas Okoro crashed home an 84th minute free-kick to break the resistance of their West African rivals, before Peter Eneji sealed a hard-fought victory with a minute left on the clock to leave the Sierra Leoneans devastated. "It was very tough beating Sierra Leone", Aremu told Goal.
"We are all looking forward to the next game on Thursday".
"We may not have trained as a team before this match because of the final day of the season on Saturday, but I believe we can rely on what we have done as a team during our training camp for the CHAN qualifiers against Benin", he said.
"I must give kudos to my team mates".
The Eagles only arrived in Ghana late last night, while today's opponents Sierra Leone have been around since last week Wednesday.
"Sierra Leone really gave us a hard game, even though they had no star within them, we knew they will be tough because they have been training together for days".
