Ryan International Group's founding chairman Augustine Pinto (73) and his wife Grace Pinto (62), who is the group's managing director, had yesterday approached the high court seeking anticipatory bail apprehending arrest in the case. A seven-year-old child was found murdered in the school's Gurugram branch last week. The prayer was conducted barely few days after the school education department had sent a showcause notice to the management, acting on a complaint by Raut, for not paying their teachers' salaries as per the Sixth Pay Commission. In another incident in October 2015, the management was pulled into another controversy after a class 9 student of Ryan International School in Chembur alleged that his teacher slapped him six times in class for leaving his collar unbuttoned in class.
Meanwhile, a lawyer, Gunratan Sadavarte, who was in the court when the matter was being heard, told the HC that he wanted to file an intervening application on behalf of some parents' associations opposing the bail pleas of the Pintos.
Additional Public Prosecutor Aruna Pai Kamath opposed the plea and sought time to file a detailed reply.
To this, Justice Gadkari said, "For transit anticipatory bail why should this court hear the Haryana government?"
Pradhan further said the child's death caused deep pain and grief not only to his parents and family but also to trustees, management, staffers, and students of the school. The Pintos want temporary relief to enable them to seek a regular pre-arrest bail from a Haryana court since the case is registered in that state.
Moreover, he said, the CCTV cameras installed in the school premises helped nab the accused.
On Sunday night, Haryana police officers arrested two top officials of the Ryan International School Group identified as Francis Thomas, regional head of the Ryan Group of Institutions, and HR head Jeyus Thomas under section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act.
The team comprised Inspector Anand Kumar and Assistant Sub-Inspector Madan Singh. "We provided adequate number of policemen to accompany them to school".
The pleas were filed after the arrest of two officials from the school and will be heard before a single Bench of Justice A.S. Gadkari on Tuesday.
Pradhuman was found with his throat slit inside the school's washroom within an hour after his father dropped him off in the morning.
