The Cabinet had given the green flag to the hike in salaries and pensions of central government employees a year ago in August, but stepped back on allowances considering the extensive modifications suggested by the pay panel.
If the Government approves hike, the news will bring cheer to 48 lakh government employees.
Meanwhile, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced the implementation of the seventh Central Pay Commission recommendations for 8 lakh employees and pensioners. The Cabinet will deliberate whether the recommendations should be modified or implemented as they are.
If sources are to be believed, the government is considering increasing the minimum basic pay for employees from the existing Rs 18,000 to Rs 21,000. On the other hand, the central government employees demand minimum pay to be increased to Rs 25000 by 3.68 of fitment formula. It led to the hike in HRAs of X, Y, Z category of cities and benefitted more than 7.5 lakh 1-3 levels of government employees.
According to Ministry of Finance, the rates of Siachen Allowance have increased from Rs 14,000 per month for soldiers to Rs 30,000.
The government also has increased rate of Nursing Allowance from Rs 4800 per month to Rs 7200 per month. Hospital Patient Care Allowance/Patient Care Allowance (HPCA/PCA) will now be Rs 4,100 to Rs 5,300 per month.
He also said, "The state government employees will get pay hike from September salary onwards".
