Rumors are swirling about how much of a redesign the iPhone will receive and what new features will be revealed.
The company had nearly 15 percent of the smartphone market in the first quarter of this year, behind Samsung Electronics Co. with 23 percent, according to research firm IDC. Aside from the 2018 handset's screen size, what is interesting here is that the company will be utilizing the same OLED display technology of its highly anticipated #iPhone 8, which is set to launch on September 12. The iPhone Edition (iPhone E?) is not to be an offering on the sidelines to the main lineup, as from what we know, it is the best, most advanced iPhone the company will be selling. The iPhone will mark Apple's 10 update to the line since the original released in 2007, because of this, many fans and outlets are reporting the newest iPhone to be a more significant change than in recent years.
The anniversary edition iPhone will have a 5.8 inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio similar to the Galaxy S8 or the LG G6, packed in a much smaller form factor.
It's Apple's first event at the Steve Jobs Theater at its new headquarters in Cupertino, California.
Samsung is expected to be the solitary OLED supplier of Apple, as it is the only firm with the capacity to produce OLED screen on a large scale.
Now that Apple has officially begun sending out invites for a "special event" on September 12, rumors have begun shifting to the name of the products getting announced.
Just as with past events, the 2017 iPhone unveiling will start at 10am Pacific Time and Apple will stream the event live on its website and on the Apple TV. The iPhone 8 will also come with improved dual camera setup similar to what is there in the iPhone 7 Plus.
