Fibromyalgia is a chronic musculoskeletal disease that causes widespread pain, with patients often experiencing extreme fatigue, sleep disturbances, depression and headaches.
One fan wrote: "It's incredible how just this one tweet has created a discussion about fibromyalgia and chronic pain and is allowing many to open up.' To which Gaga replied that she's "praying" more people open up about it so 'we can help each other".
Genetics is also at play, although it is also triggered by an emotionally or physically stressful event, such as 'an injury or infection, giving birth, having an operation, the breakdown of a relationship, the death of a loved one'. "We can all share what helps/hurts", she tweeted.
"My love life has just imploded", she says in the doc. I sold 10 million [records] and lost Matt. I sold 30 million and lost Luc [a DJ and her boyfriend of six years]. I did a movie and lose Taylor. It's like a turnover. "This is the third time I've had my heart broken like this", she said in an interview with The Huffington Post.
Although there's now no cure, there are treatments to help relieve some of the symptoms.
"In our documentary the chronic illness [and] chronic pain I deal with is Fibromyalgia", she explains on Twitter.
Later in the doc, Gaga receives a bouquet of flowers from Kinney on the day of her Super Bowl half-time performance.
