Tropical storm Katia left at least two people dead in Mexico's Gulf Coast state of Veracruz and threatened to inflict more landslides and flooding from heavy rains and overflowing rivers, Governor Miguel Angel Yunes said on Saturday.
With three tropical cyclones now on the map at the same time, Tropical Storm Jose is expected to become a hurricane by Wednesday night.
"This rainfall may cause life-threatening flash floods and mudslides, especially in areas of mountainous terrain", NHC said.
Irma formed on the heels of Hurricane Harvey, which displaced thousands of residents in Texas. Tropical Storm Jose formed Tuesday morning in the Atlantic Ocean, the National Hurricane Center said. Hurricane Katrina in 2005 had 175 miles per hour winds.
The expectation that Jose will become a major hurricane means its sustained wind speeds are likely to increase to at least 111 miles per hour.
On Friday, Jose became a risky Category 4 hurricane, threatening Caribbean islands already devastated by Irma. However, Jose is unlikely to make landfall.
Earlier this week, parts of the Lesser Antilles, including the island of Barbuda, took a direct hit from Irma.
Destruction on Barbuda was "upwards of 90 percent", Charles Fernandez, minister of foreign affairs and global trade for Antigua and Barbuda, told ABS.
