Hurricane Irma at one point achieved Category 5 status as it has been churning towards Florida.
According to the Weather Channel, Hurricane Jose is a Category 4 and could add damage to the Leeward Islands, including Puerto Rico, the British and U.S. Virgin Islands, and Barbuda, all of which were just hit by Irma.
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) had issued advisories on Hurricane Irma (currently located north of the Dominican Republic), Hurricane Jose (700 miles east of the Lesser Antilles), and Hurricane Katia (over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico).
Many have wondered what is contributing to the power and frequency of these extreme storms.
"It's not official, but today will be the highest daily ACE that the Atlantic has recorded", said Phil Klotzbach, an atmospheric scientist at Colorado State University.
Irma is the strongest storm on record to exist in the Atlantic, outside of the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico.
.NASA's Aqua satellite captured infrared temperature data on Hurricane Jose on September 8 at 12:53 a.m. EDT (0453 UTC).
This current periodic hot product, a phenomenon of wind shear, which defuses the formation of hurricanes.
After the Second world War, there has been a major industrial development in the United States and Europe, causing a severe pollution with increasing sulphate aerosols that block the sun's rays.
"The pollution reduced a lot of hurricane activity", he told AFP.
This four-storm system rolled into the region beginning in mid-August.
But, he noted, there is a debate among scientists about the origins of this change is attributed often to a reduction of pollution in the atmosphere above the Atlantic. There is evidence for both, but there isn't enough data to answer a key question.
Warmer ocean temperatures yield more moisture, more rainfall, and greater intensity storms.
In a separate composite image released by NASA on Friday (Sept. 8), you can see hurricanes Jose, Irma and and what was Katia in the Atlantic.
Climate change is making hurricanes more powerful for longer periods of time.
