The case of convicted Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav will take another turn today as India submits its initial pleadings, known as "memorial", to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague.

It was then decided that India would file its written submissions - or "memorials" - on September 13, and that Pakistan would file a response by December 13.

Issuing a stay on Jadhav's execution, the ICJ asked Pakistan to "take all measures at its disposal" to ensure that he "is not executed pending a final judgment of the court" in the case.

The BJP which is heading the government is hoping for an early return of Jadhav. He has been sentenced to death by the court of Pakistan without even a hearing and without providing an opportunity to him to put forth his point of view.

Islamabad also dubbed India's decision to take Jadhav's case to the United Nations court "political theatre".

Pakistan defence minister Khawaja Asif said Kulbhushan Jadhav had the right to appeal within 60 days, adding that "due process of law" had been followed.

India, meanwhile, accuses Pakistan of denying consular access to Mr Jadhav. We should not comment on it. "The matter is in the court and we hope that we will get justice".

He said the CPEC was a result of unprecedented friendshipbetween China and Pakistan.

Pakistan argued that the world court has no jurisdiction in this case as it pertains to national security.

"Nobody can reverse it [the Economic Corridor], it will succeed at any cost", he was quoted as saying. It will contend that Islamabad is acting in defiance Article 14 of the 1966 International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (1966), and reiterate that Jadhav was illegally abducted from Iran, where he was running a small business.

Pakistan disputes India's allegations and claims it arrested Jadhav from its restive Balochistan province.
