Gamez was signed up by Rafa Benitez last summer from Atletico Madrid but injury plagued his first season a St. James' Park as he only managed to earn seven appearances across all competitions while also finding himself behind DeAndre Yedlin in the right-back pecking order.
Only two of Swansea's starting outfield players attempted fewer passes than Sanches (48)- left-back Martin Olsson (39) and midfielder Leroy Fer (44)- although the 20-year-old's afternoon was ended 21 minutes early.
A cross by Matt Ritchie in the 33rd minute was deflected with a glancing header from six yards by Joselu, but the Spanish striker was denied by Fabianski's fingertip save.
"After the game Rafa rang and he has congratulated everybody, especially the players because they have done a massive job".
Sanches eventually chose Swansea because of Clement's influence, and the former Bayern assistant put his faith in the midfielder by slotting him in the starting XI against Newcastle. The actual game, what I saw was nothing like I expected.
The visitors were quick out of the blocks, and it was fast-paced start as they forced the Swans to play quickly - which prevented us from settling into a good passing rhythm.
"We made too many mistakes, we gave the ball away too often".
Tammy Abraham should have given Swansea the lead on the hour when he rounded goalkeeper Rob Elliot and seemed certain to apply the finish. You need chances like that to go in, but it was not our day today. "We've not played well and we've lost the game".
"This is definitely what we wanted to deliver to Rafa", said Paco, who is effectively Benitez's number two despite having the official title of fitness coach.
Clement said: "He did some good things; he did some things that were not so good".
Ayoze Perez has backed Newcastle to carry on surprising those who predicted their Premier League demise.
"I am not very happy".
