Ronald Darby's first regular season game with the Philadelphia Eagles ended early with an ankle injury that caused him to get carted off and immediately ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Darby's ankle bent awkwardly as he planted while in coverage. The cart had to come pick Darby up off the field while medical personnel stabilized the joint. It happened right next to the Eagles sideline, and Eagles players immediately went down on one knee while trainers evaluated Darby. He only has two career interceptions but has racked up 33 pass breakups in 29 games.

"Darby suffered from a sophomore slump a year ago, grading as the 66th-best CB with a PFF overall grade of 70.6".

Without Darby, the Eagles will either have to start Patrick Robinson on the outside, or force rookie cornerback Rasul Douglas - who did not dress against the Redskins - into action.

While the Eagles addressed the position during this year's National Football League draft, second-rounder Sidney Jones remains out with a ruptured Achilles, and third-rounder Rasul Douglas was inactive Sunday.
