Sources close to MMAUNO.com have revealed that a welterweight fight between Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone and Darren Till is in the works for the UFC's second ever event on Polish soil. The bout was first announced by MMA Uno earlier today.
The move wisely puts one of the UFC's most popular, active fighters at the top of a card deeply in need of star power. It also marks a big step up for Till, who called for a big fight following last weekend's UFC Rotterdamn.
Multiple sources have confirmed that both Donald Cerrone (32-9 MMA, 19-6 UFC) and Darren Till (15-0-1 MMA, 3-0-1 UFC) have verbally agreed to meet in the main event of the October 21 event, which takes place at Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland.
Cerrone (32-9) is now riding in a two fight losing streak having lost to Jorge Masvidal and Robbie Lawler in 2017.
For the undefeated Till, meanwhile, Cowboy is a definite rung up the ladder.
Till is perhaps Cerrone's least known opponent in several years, but it would be a big mistake to underestimate the 24-year-old Englishman, who has marked himself out as a very promising up-and-comer who's notched up three wins and a draw in the UFC to date.
Till (15-0-1) has won three of four under the UFC banner, defeating Wendell De Oliveira Marques, Jessin Ayari and Bojan Velickovic, while fighting Nicolas Dalby to a no contest at UFC Fight Night 76. Till is yet to be ranked.
