As Texas and Louisiana rebuild, philanthropic groups will turn their attention to raising capital to sustain their disaster-assistance programs.

"We are anticipating a presence on the Gulf Coast for several months". Locally, Red Cross donation drives have been held all across the state.

Hurricane Harvey also triggered calls for blood donors here and across the country.
To volunteer, anyone interested can go to redcross.org. "Instead, the best way to support disaster victims is with a financial donation".
Along with Red Cross partners, they have served more than 250,000 meals and snacks since the storm began.
Donations pay for the gas and equipment to power our feeding efforts.
Disaster-relief volunteers often are people in their 50s and 60s, or newly retired.
"A lot of the kind of things the Red Cross does. we kind of respond in the same kind of way", said Major General Thaddeus J. Martin, the leader of the Connecticut National Guard.
Making a contribution to the Red Cross to help the victims of this hurricane season clearly is one important way. They say that for every $10 donated, they can provide $200 in aid.
