The Marlins are escaping the wrath of Hurricane Irma as they began their seven-game road trip on Thursday.

The Atlanta Braves did a good thing Thursday.

Anyway, hopefully the Braves don't follow this up by blaring "Riders on the Storm" or "Rainy Days and Mondays" at Friday night's game.

However, playing an inappropriate song, after offering fans a way to "take their mind off the storm", might have spoiled some of the goodwill the Braves fostered with the gesture.

A Braves official apologized, according to Miami Herald writer Clark Spencer, saying the song "should have been pulled", and won't be heard in the stadium again this series.

The insensitive gesture contrasted with the Braves' show of generosity before the game, when they announced "all Florida residents" and those "under evacuation orders" in Georgia and SC could receive free tickets during the four-game series.

The offer also is open to residents of Georgia and SC counties under mandatory evacuation orders.

Derek Schiller, the Atlanta Braves President of Business, said in the statement on their website that, "We know how hard it has been for those who have had to pack up and leave their homes as Hurricane Irma approaches".

Many players, including the Marlins' official Twitter account, have offered support and prayers for those in south Florida.
