"James Woods tried to pick me and my friend up at a restaurant once", Tamblyn wrote. When she was starring in the series Joan of Arcadia as a 21 year-old, Tamblyn said that's when she first faced an on-set harassment problem with one of the show's crew members.
Tamblyn ended her piece with a rallying cry to fellow women, writing, "We are learning that the more we open our mouths, the more we become a choir".
She wrote of her fear and embarrassment at coming forward with the accusation, and her frustration with the producer's seemingly-ambivalent response: "Well, there are two sides to every story".
This clear disregard for believing the woman's side, Tamblyn said, ties into her current situation with Woods.
Earlier this week Amber got into a Twitter argument with the outspoken actor after he took to Twitter to himself criticize the upcoming movie Call Me By Your Name, which stars Armie Hammer as a 24-year-old professor who falls in love with his 17-year-old male student, played by Timothée Chalamet.
Her recent interaction with Woods - who still denies hitting on a the 16-year-old Tamblyn and her friend, and inviting them to Las Vegas - sent her mind back to this encounter in the producer's office.
"I have been afraid of speaking out or asking things of men in positions of power for years", she said.
The show's producers, as Tamblyn writes, responded by saying, "There are two sides to each story". I informed him of my age, to which he said, 'Even better.' I told this story publicly as a way to back up the claim that Mr. Woods was, indeed, a hypocrite. "Mr. Woods called my account a lie".
"What would I get out of accusing this person of such an action, nearly 20 years after the fact?" she asked incredulously. "Notoriety, power or respect?"
Still, Tamblyn is proud of herself for speaking out against Woods - and urged woman around the world to not just stop listening to men who disbelieve them, but to also stop listening to their own disbeliefs about themselves. "What I have experienced as an actress working in a business whose business is to objectify women is frightening". It is a famous man telling you that you are a liar for what you have remembered.
