Yuvraj, 35, began India's campaign at the Champions Trophy in June with a match-winning 53 off 32 balls against Pakistan but his form trailed off thereafter, with scores of 7, 23* and 22. All rounder Yuvraj Singh and batsman Rishabh Pant have been dropped, while in-form Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin have been rested.
The All-India Senior Selection Committee has picked the India Cricket Team for the five-match One Day International series and only Twenty20 International against Sri Lanka. Rohit Sharma and Yuzvendra Chahal also got a call-up for the series starting from August 20. Manish Pandey, who had a great triangular series in South Africa has been rewarded for his performance.
KL Rahull, who played his last ODI against England earlier this year has also made the cut.
The same squad will represent India in the one-off T20I that follows the ODI series.
This will be India's first ODI assignment after West Indies tour. Dinesh Karthik will feel himeself unlucky for missing out despite a good series in West Indies. Named in India's Champions Trophy squad, Pandey returned to India because of an injury that flared up.
The squad: Virat Kohli (captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma (vice captain), Lokesh Rahul, Manish Pandey, Ajinkya Rahane, Kedar Jadhav, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (wicket-keeper), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shardul Thakur. The ODIs will be played on August 20, 24, 27, 31 and September 3, and the T20I on September 6.
