Denying charges hurled by US President Donald Trump on Pakistan to be a "safe haven for terrorist organisations", Pakistan's Ambassador to US Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry on Wednesday said that there are no safe havens for terrorists in the country.
Bajwa also said "collaboration and synergy of effort between all stakeholders is the key to success to bring this long drawn war in Afghanistan to its logical conclusion".
"There's been an erosion in trust because we have witnessed terrorist organisations being given safe haven inside of Pakistan to plan and carry out attacks against USA servicemen, United States officials and disrupting peace efforts inside of Afghanistan". The Pakistani Ambassador reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment in continuing counter terrorism activities in the country. He said Federal Cabinet has mandated the Prime Minister to take up the issue at a National Security Committee meeting to be held today to formulate a comprehensive policy response.
"No country in the world has suffered more than Pakistan from the scourge of terrorism, often perpetrated from outside our borders". He said it is disappointing that the United States statement overlooks the tremendous counter terrorism achievements of Pakistan as well as the vast scarifies rendered by the whole nation during this struggle. "As a matter of policy, Pakistan does not allow use of its territory against any country", the statement said. The threat is worse because Pakistan and India are two nuclear-armed states whose tense relations threaten to spiral into conflict.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said Pakistan was on the front line in the struggle against terrorism and had made "great sacrifices" and "important contributions" in the fight.
"We support the new United States strategy that committs to support the AFG people, continue to support ANDSF and speaking loud and clear about Pakistan'ss deceiving strategy supporting terrorist groups and offering them safe heavens".
