Two officers were shot Friday night in Kissimmee, just south of Orlando, according to the Police Department.

The shooting took place in the area of Cypress Street around 9:30 p.m. on Friday.

"Heartbreaking loss of two of Kissimee's finest officers", Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs tweeted. "Please join in prayers for families, friends and law enforcement".

The Florida Highway Patrol is asking people to avoid the area of Highway 192 and Orange Blossom Trail.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was also at the scene.
