An angry Swift took on her critics in the world premiere of the music video for her first solo single in three years, "Look What You Made Me Do".
Zayn & Taylor Swift, meanwhile, were victorious, with their "I Don't Wanna Live Forever (Fifty Shades Darker)' winning the Best Collaboration Award ahead of stiff opposition from The Chainsmokers ft".
This was the only time the President's name was mentioned at the award show, though stars and guests took subtle jabs at POTUS throughout the night. Not on his show, anyway. Shortly after Kim released those damning Snapchat videos of Taylor and Kanye's phone conversation, Taylor released a statement about wanting to be "excluded from this narrative" that she never asked to be a part of.
However, perhaps the most prestigious award of the evening, the Artist of the Year prize, was handed to Ed Sheeran, who has enjoyed incredible chart success with his most-recent album ÷, which featured the singles Castle on the Hill and 'Shape of You.
Katy Perry was hosting the VMAs in California last night where the video was unveiled.
And it seems as though Taylor hasn't forgot either, as she dances alongside a group of male dancers all rocking a strikingly similar version of said t-shirt.
"She started it, and it's time for her to finish it", Perry told Corden, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
"She keeps showing me because she knows it makes me queasy", P!nk laughed.
Fear not! We've gathered up four must-see moments from the socially conscious affair (and one lackluster video debut from Taylor Swift) to keep you in the loop. I've been rocking with this guy since I was 14 years old.
Perry also apologized to Swift in an interview with Arianna Huffington earlier this summer. "I think she is hilarious and she is ideal for this show", P!nk said graciously. The VMA host, who went all-in for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in last year's election, used some self-deprecating humor about her political support, saying, "When Hillary Clinton becomes president, I promise to put out a timeless record that everybody loves", per Time.
While Swift may change her adversarial tone in her forthcoming singles prior to Reputation's release on November 10, she's certainly signaling with the Look video that she's not quite finished lashing out at her enemies.
