Burnley has caused a major upset after they beat defending champions of the English Premier League Chelsea 3-2 early this morning.

Burnley piled on the pressure on the hosts and had Coach Antonio Conte's heart in his mouth when Sam Vokes headed in the 19th minute.

While accepting that his players had been affected by the situation, Conte pointed to how they have now received red cards in each of their last three games - including the FA Cup final and Community Shield against Arsenal - but stopped short of blaming his players for ill-discipline.

Huddersfield Town marked their top flight return with a remarkable 3-0 win at Crystal Palace that sent them top of the table, while Wayne Rooney bagged the victor on his Everton comeback in a 1-0 victory over Stoke City.

Newly-signed substitute Alvaro Morata got one back in the 69th minute, poking the ball in from a Willian cross and putting Burnley on the back foot.

The Chelsea manager told the BBC: "The sending off of Cahill was a key moment, because to play the rest of the game with 10 and then nine men is not easy".

Burnley held on in the end to claim a first ever Premier League win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Stephen Ward scored the second goal for Burnley on 39th minute of the first half to make it 2-0 for the visitors.

It was their first league match of the season.

They continued to create the better openings, with a Nathan Redmond cross creating havoc before Swansea scraped the ball away, but struggled to carve out clear chances against a well-organised visiting side.

Conte will have some thinking to do, along with the board, as both Cahill and Fabregas will be missing for next week's match with Tottenham Hotspur. But Britos headed the match-tying goal in off the line after the Reds failed to clear a corner that ricocheted around the box and to the Watford man. Liverpool conceded 27 goals from set-pieces last season.

Almost 5,000 days later, Wayne Rooney is back scoring in the blue of Everton.

With three goals and a +3 goal differential, Huddersfield Town is top of the league.

NAN also reports that Wayne Rooney scored the winning goal on his top-flight return to Everton after 13 years.

Dusan Tadic went close late on as Southampton made it a club-record six home league games in a row without a goal, their worst run since the 1930s.
