For three years, Hans Nilsson searched in vain to spot the rare white moose that had been roaming in western Sweden, but when he finally found the unique animal he dreamed about filming he was unprepared. Regardless of what you call it, this majestic animal is definitely lovely.
"This is as great as seeing a leopard in Africa", Nilsson said. Instead, they have a genetic mutation that causes their fur to turn white. The moose, discovered in Varmland, Sweden, appears to be just one of the 100 white moose that exist in the country. Contrary to popular belief, the moose is not albino.
It is thought that the Elk is either an albino, meaning it has no pigment, or has leucism, a condition similar to albinism but which doesn't affect the colour of the eyes.
True albino animals have pink or red eyes, whereas animals with leucism have all the splendor of a snowy mythical creature, but with dark eyes.
It certain parts of Canada, like Ontario for example, regulations were passed to protect the rare white-coloured moose, who are easy targets in the wild due to their visible colour.
